The Stylish Seascape Hideaway

The Brief

With a small floor plan for an established couple, this home needed clever design to create a modern and open plan kitchen that created a heart to the home, and stylish yet functional bathrooms. The interior and exterior required materials to suit the elements of sun, salt and wind to ensure the home stands the test of time.  

How we elevated the home

Making the most of the open plan footprint, a new bright white kitchen faces out to the view.

Clever use of multiple skylights lets in extra sunshine to make the space feel larger, creating an architectural feel to the feature wooden ceiling. Sliding doors open the entire space out to an expansive deck, letting the seabreeze flow in. The bathroom upgrades include a walk in shower and deep bath making the long narrow space feel inviting. The exterior materials were chosen to handle the harsh elements of the New Zealand climate, featuring a combination of black brick and detailed abodo paneling making a bold statement. The result is a dynamic home that turns heads at every detail.
